Anambra State, Nigeria – Thur 25 April, 2024
Team Vianney of Anambra State has clinched the prestigious title of inaugural winners at the National Girls in ICT Competition, organized by the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy. The competition, aimed at revolutionizing Nigeria’s ICT landscape, provided a platform for secondary school girls to exhibit their prowess, creativity, and innovation in various ICT domains.
Under the mentorship of Kodex Africa, the Vianney Team from St. John Vianney Science College showcased their groundbreaking M-Tag VR solution. This innovative VR technology enables users to delve into Nigeria’s rich tapestry of culture and iconic landmarks, offering a unique learning and exploration experience.
Immaculate Ebube Ikegwuonu, the team lead, expressed gratitude on behalf of her teammates, Camilla Anyadike, and Nweke-Nonso Oluchi, stating, “We are immensely grateful for this opportunity and indebted to our school for fostering our passion for ICT careers.”
Guided by their coach, John Onuigbo, and with support from Kodex Africa, the girls demonstrated exceptional spirit and skill throughout the competition, prevailing over formidable opponents from all 36 states, including tough competition from the six geopolitical zones, such as Lagos and Port Harcourt.
“This victory is a testament to the dedication and talent of these young girls. They have not only showcased their technical skills but also their ability to innovate and problem-solve,” remarked Idika Chidinma Ukpai, Operations Lead of Kodex Africa. “We are honored to have played a part in their journey and express our gratitude to the Federal Ministry of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy for entrusting us with this important initiative.
